Besides ranking points from outdoor national / indoor national, provincial or ITF event, a strong doubles team is needed as many matches outcome are determined by the deciding doubles match.
Unless the top 3 chosen singles players are strong in doubles the selection committee need to ensure a strong doubles team is included

I agree with Marc that only Canadians should play our Nationals, since it is such an important tournament for the National Team selection. In the US there are so many regional tournaments, as well as multi-surface nationals (Grasscourt Nationals, Clay court Nationals, Hard court Nationals), that there are more opportunities for US players to gain…[Read more]
